Shawarma Seasoning

April 29, 2016

Mmm! Let’s talk Shawarma, in Turkish language means “turning”. This represents the act of a variety of different meats turning or rotating on a vertical spit, sometimes known as rotisserie.

Lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal or anything you can think of! If you can put it on the spit, it’s Shawarma worthy. It’s typically served with a side of Classic Tabbouleh Salad, fresh hummus, and some type of tahini garlic sauce. Most like to eat it as a pita wrap or sandwich. We like to eat it over a bed of The Perfect Brown Rice, if possible {yes, please!}. Gyros are also rotisserie cooked and can be considered part of the Shawarma family.

This ridiculously good and traditional dish, or variety of dishes, are jam packed with flavor using Shawarma Seasoning. The meat roasts slowly as it rotates in front of or near flames for several hours. It is sometimes decorated with onions, lemons or tomatoes to pack extra flavor into the food. Using an electric knife, slices of heavenly meats are sliced off and served fresh.

The most pungent flavors in this fresh seasoning are the cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg. There is a little bit of everything and you can use it on basically everything. Shawarma Seasoning is not selectively for Baked Chicken Shawarma. You can even put it on your scrambled eggs in the morning or on some roasted veggies. It is the nutritious power-packed combinations of fresh herbs and spices that can bring the flavors out in practically anything. There is a touch of heaven in this mixture, indefinitely.

As you mix together the dried herbs, the aromas fill the kitchen and enhance relaxation. We like to keep it handy in a small mason jar on the counter or in the pantry in order for easy access. You never know when you’ll need a hint of Shawarma Seasoning. Maybe even in your eggs for breakfast!
