Oozing Grilled Witch Fingers

Who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese sandwich? I sure do! If you don’t, I call that a whole bunch of hocus-pocus.

 

Ever since I was a child, a grilled cheese sandwich was a sign up motherly affection and the epitome of true home comfort food.

 

This Halloween, I’m going to kick it up a notch and a roll up these Oozing Grilled Witch Fingers filled with melted veggie cheese. You can’t go wrong with Maple Bacon Jam to dip these grilled cheese roll-ups.

 

 

As delicious as my homemade bacon jam is, it sure is not something that looks pretty! It seemed like the spookiest way to add something that looks like the ends of a rotting witches finger without tasting like death. Am I right or am I right?

 

 

I think the creepiest part of this recipe is the pale, white witch’s nail that I attached to each grilled cheese roll-up with some bacon jam. Of course, since I could not use a real nail, I used raw sliced almonds that I picked up at the store. For an added effect, you can use a whole raw almond (this will make it look like a brown and bruised nail).

Oozing Grilled Witch Fingers

 

This Halloween, I’m going to kick it up a notch by rolling up these Oozing Grilled Witch Fingers filled with melted veggie cheese and bacon jam to dip.

 

 

 

 

Prep time: 15 mins

Cook time: 30 mins

Total time: 45 mins

Yields: 10

Instructions

  1. Make a batch of Maple Bacon Jam. Set aside to cool.

  2. Lay a long piece of plastic wrap on the counter. Place a slice of bread on the left side of the plastic wrap. Cover with the piece on the right. If you have a rolling pin, roll over the bread until it’s flat. If you have a mallet, lightly whack the bread until it’s flat. Repeat with all 10 slices. Cut the ends off the bread. Discard or save for later. Lightly butter each slice. Set aside.

  3. Cut 5 veggie cheese slices in half. Place each piece on a slice of bread leaving a space to the right side of the bread. Do not cover that part with cheese.

  4. Lightly grease a pan with 1 tbsp of butter. Grill each slice until the cheese melts. Remove from heat.

  5. Add a tad of Maple Bacon Jam onto the part of each slice with no cheese. Roll up each slice tightly to cause the oozing effect. Dab a little Maple Bacon Jam onto each sliced almond and place at the tip of each grilled cheese to resemble a witch’s nail.

  6. Arrange witches fingers in the shape of two hands with Maple Bacon Jam in the middle to dip.

  7. Serve.
