Gin + Juice

April 19, 2015

My all time favorite drink these days is Gin + Juice. Before you start reminiscing on the 90s song by Snoop Dogg, that’s not why I started drinking this cocktail. I do, however, enjoy listening to that song while sipping on my Gin + Juice. Back to the story…

When I was in London, we stopped by a local bar in Soho called Graphic Bar. The whole concept of this spot was amazing. The walls were tagged up in beautiful graffiti artwork with house music bumping all down the block. Black lights and glow-in-the-dark decor cover the scenery. As we approach the bartender, we see all the beautiful bottles of gin from all over the globe in different shapes, colors, and sizes.

It’s finally my turn and I had no idea what to order or if it would even be good, for that matter. The bartender asked me, “What color?” I looked at him puzzled and said, “I am new to this place.” He showed me a short menu that had four colors: pink, yellow, blue and…who even knows? I was hooked when I saw yellow. I ordered and got so excited when he handed me a paint can filled with yellow sunshine, beautiful, goodness! Where the heck was I all this time? Seriously, hiding under a rock.

Gin is more than just alcohol. It has culture. It has a past. It has history. And, most of all, it has a heck of a good flavor filled with amazing herbs and spices from everywhere in the world. So, at the end of the day, I absolutely loved my yellow paint can. In fact, I had 2 or maybe 3 paint cans. Thank you, Graphic Bar! They taught me and inspired me to share my Gin + Juice recipe with you.
