Garbage Disposal Cleaning Pods

June 1, 2016

Sick and tired of your garbage disposal smelling like pure shit? Excuse my French, you know it’s the truth. A quick scrub down every now and then might seem suffice, surely it’s not.

We were so tired of washing dishes with the foul odor rising from the pits of hell under the kitchen sink—the garbage disposal. We started saving all the halves of lemons from juiced lemon water, homemade salad dressings, cocktails and everything else under the sun to make homemade Garbage Disposal Cleaning Pods. I put them in a clear freezer safe Ziploc container on the top shelf of the freezer where they are nice, bright and accessible.

Every other day or so, I toss one of my Garbage Disposal Cleaning Pods before doing the dishes and give it a whirl. The crisp and refreshing scent that fills the air is great and revitalizing. I love citrusy scents and the natural lemon fragrance is among my favorite, considering that yellow is my favorite color.

The juices of your lemon Garbage Disposal Cleaning Pods will cut the grease, oils from the lemon rind will exfoliate the gears and the pith will clean the nooks and crannies like a sponge. For an extra ruffed up and stinky garbage disposal, I would suggest tossing one or two fully frozen Garbage Disposal Cleaning Pods to really get things clean again. Depending on how hard your water is, you can do this once or twice a week. I do it about three times a week just to make sure everything is nice and clean. What’s your cleaning routine?
