I love everything shiny about St. Patrick’s Day. If you keep up with my blog, you probably know that by now. Anything I can whip out a can of gold spray paint, I’m in! And this is the season we’re in.
I don’t like to make myself too crazy over making a DIY. That’s typically why you will find me roaming the aisles of my local dollar stores. Yes, dollar stores, as in plural. I go to them all. Doubloon Table Scatter came about during one of my searches.
Dollar Tree is always on the up and up. I was actually able to snag a bag of these shamrock coins in January because they’ve been on the shelves since then. You know me, I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to make some Doubloon Table Scatter for when St. Paddy’s rolled around the corner.
I cannot even begin to tell you how easy it was to make these doubloons shine bright! The shamrock coins come in a pack of 30 and they’re already metallic. But it’s that cheapy metallic, kids toy kind of gold that doesn’t make you feel the luck of the Irish. I had just the trick. My mighty can of spray paint, or cans actually. I used gold and copper to really make these pop.
Doubloon Table Scatter is a simple DIY that can brighten up the room the old luck of the Irish style with just a touch of spray paint on some dull shamrock play coins. You can bag these up as little gifts for the kids at school, dress up your mantle or dress down your dining table. Catch a cool updated way to use them in the coming days with my Pot of Gold Centerpieces.
